Question.
Lajnah Da’imah Lil Buhuts Al-Ilmiah Wal Ifta asked: What is the law people who memorize the Quran by rote and then he forgets, whether he will be subject to torture or not?

An answer.
Praise be to Allah, prayers and greetings to His Apostle hopefully shed, their families and companion, wa ba'du.

The Qur'an is the word of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, he is the most important words and loaded with the laws, read a heartbreaking worship, the soul becomes khusyu and offer other benefits that are not counted. Therefore, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam instructed to always take care not to forget. He sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said.

"Meaning: Keep (recitation) of the Qur'an, for the Essence of my soul are His hands, in fact the Qur'an are very fast regardless exceed (loss) camels from this bond" [1]

A Hafiz should not neglect to read it and not the maximum of the guard. He should have a wird (repeat) daily to avoid forgetting while expecting reward and take lessons its laws, whether in the form of aqeedah and deeds. But people who knew little of the Qur'an and then forgotten, because a lot of activity or because of negligence, then he is innocent.

As for the hadith that contains a threat to people who memorize and then forget, is not from the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam.

Wabillah at-taufiq sallallaahu wa 'ala Muhammad wa nabiyyina aalihi shahbihi wa sallam.
